Dawn Hernandez, President and CEO
High school graduate and studied 1 year of community college
Dawn, Christopher’s mother, is a small business owner and constant giver to a variety of charities. She has done extensive work with St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation, St. Bonaventure Catholic School, Servite Catholic High School and St. John Bosco Catholic High School. She like her son, also has Dysgraphia.

Chris, Christopher’s father, is an aerospace engineer. He has been very involved with a number of non-profits and charities over the years such as; Boy Scouts of America, March of Dimes, and he is currently the Chairman of the Board for the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation, the nation’s largest social services organization providing child care to needy families. He also serves on the Dean’s Industrial Advisory Council for the College of Engineering, California State University Long Beach and is a member of the Technical Operations Council for the Aerospace Industries Association.



Candice Chick Shirey, Secretary

MA Counseling and Sports Management from CSULB

For the past 8 years Candice has worked in the division of Student Services in the Athletics Department, CSULB. She is the counselor on staff and assists student athletes with transitional classes in and out of college life, as well as educational programs related to sexual assault, drug and alcohol misuse, and related problems.
She also promotes community service and outreach for the department and in 2008-2009 she served the local community with over 2,500 hours of community service. In addition she has initiated and managed various fundraising events for charitable causes at CSULB.



Dr. Rafik Sidrak, MD
Adult Psychiatry at the University of California at San Francisco. He was also a fellow at the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Program at the University of Californian at San Diego.
Rafik has dual certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Adult Psychiatry. He has been in private practice in Long Beach and Lakewood since 1990. Dr. Sidrak is cofounder of Harbor Psychealth, one of the largest group practices in the Long Beach area.
He had been the Medical Director of Harbor View Adolescent Center, Long Beach, since 1992 and the Medical Director of Star View Adolescent Center, Torrance, since 1997. Both programs provide intensive acute and residential treatment to adolescents with serious psychiatric conditions.



Deborah Klee Blashaw

Deborah is the Director of Student Support Services at Servite Catholic High School and was Christopher’s Counselor for three years. She created the freshman counseling program at Servite High School and provides services to those students that may be challenged by learning differences and physical disabilities. She also created a program for peer mentoring which includes awareness programs for substance abuse, suicide prevention, and learning differences.
